What’s a Resurrection Reunion Weekend? Since 2013 the WLHA alums have been getting together each July to bring WLHA back to life for a BIG 64 hour weeked on WSUM-FM, U.W. Madison’s current student radio station. Thanks to the amazing generosity of WSUM managers and staff, the beautiful downtown facilites of WSUM are turned over to the WLHA staff to program as a sort of live WLHA 640 AM on WSUM 91.7 FM simulcast. For the weekend, WLHA is totally alive again as we play our old (and many new) jingles and rekindle the fun of college radio with several dozen WLHA veterans from the 1960’s though the early 1990s. It is a blast to get calls from Madison adults who remember listening to WLHA decades ago. Last year we did remotes, lots of contests and hidden capsules, spoof sponsors and all the other goofy stuff WLHA is known for. This year we plan to take our show outdoors and play real records from the remote unit set up in strategic locations downtown.
July 7-9 is peak beautiful Summer weather in Madison. It’s a great time to revist your college town and step back in time to do WLHA once again, stroll the lakeshore path on campus, sit at the Union, and eat Babcock ice cream. The Art Fair On (and Off) the Square is going on that weekend too, so there is no shortage of things to see and do.
Will you come join us for 2017? We sure hope so. We are making plans now and working out the schedule of shows. To get in on the action, send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org right away. You definately want to make plans to BE THERE!
