LIVE ON THE AIR NOW! Coming up this Saturday. The WLHA almuni staffers are getting together once again to celebrate one of their favorite major holidays, April Fools Day, with a special live broadcast event. This is our ninth annual Spring Special. We’ll kick it off about 4 pm CDST with some warm-up radio (always […]
We have a another big event planned for you with T Burns and the Boomerangs playing live music, mystery B side contests, painful jokes, and a bunch of strange new sponsors. You can check it out live April 1st after 4 PM CDST at www.lakeshore64.com/live.html or catch the replay Sunday evening. If you have a […]
This is something new you may not have heard about. We now have an official day of recognition for college radio. Read more about it here Remember Those Good Old College Radio Days?
Here’s our collection of photos from the Halloween Show. Thanks to staff photographer John Nee for shooting most of these.
With the production values of network television (by which we mean Dumont, circa 1953) WLHA’s Halloween Spooktacular was our greatest extravaganza to date with a cast of 30+ broadcasters, musicians and hangers on (not to mention craft services whipping up two kinds of chili!). The screenshots here are captured from the HD broadcast as […]
Wow, 10/14 already, so time for an update. It’s really getting close now. We’re only TWO weeks out from the WLHA Halloween show and party. To help get into the “spirit” of our Halloween show I hope you clicked on the promo above. But woah. Pretty scary stuff.
Big 64 engineers are now busy wrestling with software problems, installing cameras, hanging lights, putting fresh tubes in the H.U.M. generator and greasing the turntables. Mrs. The K has been busy cooking up tasty things for the party and decorating the WLHA lounge. (I heard we might have TWO kinds of chili this year). The Graphics Dept. has just finished preparing over 100 brand new slides to augment the 300 WLHA Hallween graphics left over from previous years. The Sales Dept. has out done themselves lining up new sponsors, selling live copy spots and naming rights for each of the studios, Al’s helicopter, Nivek’s theremin and even the big red “On Air” light. I think it’s getting a little out of control, and I don’t mean the control room. The Sales Mgr. told me that even moments of dead air are sponsored this year. He said we can make a mint on all of those avails. The talent coordinators are lining up musicial groups and all over town musicians are learning new songs for the show. Stupid Stereo Steve is working hard to come up with merchandise to give bikes away with.
The excitement during these last couple of ramp up weeks is pretty hard to contain. Circle that date, Oct 28th, so you can Be There with us.
For the past seven years, WLHA veterans have gathered together and streamed a WLHA Halloween show live from Madison, and we are gearing up to do it again. As usual, this will be “Radio You Can Watch” with HD video coverage of all that happens so you can watch and snicker at us from […]
Thanks again to the folks at WSUM for letting us take over the facilities for an entire weekend. See you again next July!
We’re back! For the fourth year running WLHA alumni from days of yore will be commandeering the facilities of WSUM-FM for another weekend of fun, memories and technical malfunctions during the 2016 Resurrection Reunion Weekend. The hilarity starts at 9:00 am Friday with Nivek, Casey the K and Andy Arns and continues all the way […]
