No matter what stations or type of music students normally listened to, when Trivia Marathon weekend arrived, WLHA was the station booming out of radios all over Lakeshore. Large organized teams threw themselves into the contest with major enthusiasm, and audience participation was at an all time high. It was a great opportunity for former staff members to come back and participate. With ringing phones, a log full of commercials, and a newroom full of Trivia Masters, WLHA was a hoppin' place. For a glimpse of what Trivia was like be sure to check out this video WLHA Trivia Marathon 1979. These old airchecks captured a great selection of live and production voices mixing several generations as current and alumni staff dropped in as guests and helped read standings and clues.
Tom Baer and his team of Trivia Masters were the driving force behind these events for years and he was constantly collecting questions as a year long obsession . He tells me he still has all the card files of questions saved just in case we want to cook up another live Trivia Marathon event sometime. You never know...

The Song Capsule contest causes a commotion as complaints came in from the commercial radio stations in town, that they were getting swamped with incoming calls requesting help to ID the mystery songs. As a bonus, the aircheck tape kept running and recorded the beginning of the Jan Steffes and John Skattum show that followed at 8PM.
