Earth Day Broadcast 2010

On Sat. April 24th, WLHA was alive and rocking again, with a special broadcast focused on Earth Day, Springfest 2010, and a touch of April Fools.  It was four and half hours of radio fun and featured live music performances, over 70 new audio production bits and remote links, as well as dozens of  live copy sponsorship elements.  As Capt. Jack commented midway through the evening "This is  exhausting".

We all had fun at the origination end.  It was great to have WLHA alive for the night.  It was all recorded.  We may eventually post it on the site somehow, (it's a 9GB file)  but for the moment it is available for streaming rebroadcast on request.

Thanks to everyone who participated all around the country.

We need your photos and tapes

Please dig through your closets, garage, attic and basement.

We need old photos of the station and staff, as well as posters and airchecks.

We also need your help to contact former staffers.  Who are you still in contact with?

Staff alumni and missing staff list.

Here is  an air name/real name cross-reference of former staffers we are compiling from memory. Some of these have been located and contacted. The rest we are actively seeking.

We know there are many more not yet on the list and we need your help to complete the list and get in contact with as many as possible.      Click Here

CAPED CRUSADER RIDES AGAIN

Dan Cloutier, AKA  "The Caped Crusader" was another of the colorful WLHA characters of the mid 1970s and his full show aircheck, presented here with only the music edited down, gives an excellent audio image of typical weekday programs at the Big 64.  This program includes vintage IDs, concert and event information and cameo voice appearances by Dave Beam, as well as references to Nivek and Tom Samuels. Dan's life was impacted in a big way by his WLHA experience. He first met his future wife, Joan, when she called in from Liz Waters to the 262-9542 instant request line, winning her heart with his smooth super hero delivery.   Another classic WLHA romance.

Oh yeah, about the photo above. Another of Dan's aliases was "Flasher Dan" and I will let you contact him for the details behind this performance on the Park street pedestrian bridge.
